Yup. I've even doubled up. With two mini schnauzers, sisters from different littlers. One salt and pepper, the other black and silver. 11 and 9 yr. Both are now on insulin, the black and silver is now blind. I know we are blessed every day they decide to stay with us. And I learn something new about living every day, especially from my blind buddha crone babe who never gives up and wags her tail and gives kisses and runs to me when I clap my hands yards away from her (more like a fast saunter, but hell she's moving and trying and happy!)
Benefits are hard work, but easy to get and well worth the effort!
