Get 'em down!

It's been a long time since anyone said that to me.
Today, my rude ones, we're not talking knickers,
we're talking Christmas decorations and mine
are generally down by Boxing Day at the latest,
but then I always did hold them up with rather loose elastic!

Twelfth Night is here again.  So grab those balls,
gather those garlands, wrip down your wreaths for
fear that bad luck will ensue should you happen
to be a little tardy.

I can't be arsed to tell you all about the traditions this
year, like drinking wassail or eating a pea and
becoming the queen for the night, because I don't
think half of you are really listening anyway.

What kept you guys?

However, I have tinkered about a bit with the words of the well
known carol "Deck the Halls", sung to the old sixteenth
century Welsh tune "Nos Galen", so that you have
something to sing whilst you strip away.

Here we go now, in the Key of C, alto's take the descant
in the second verse.  May I proudly present the Long Dog Choir.
This is the first ever attempt at a blog sing-along
so let's make it a good one.

Undeck your halls, chuck out the holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la
It's bloody cold and we're not jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

That massive turkey's still half eaten,
Fa la la la la, la la la la
So it's curry tonight, we can't be beaten,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Now the New Year's really started,
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Please no more sprouts, the dog's just farted
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Come now, don't be quite so down hearted,
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Make haste, be quick - the sales have started!
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

With the exception of Long Dog Samplers who's prices will
remain eyewateringly exhorbitant throughout the year.
Well you know what they say - if you have to ask the
price, you can't afford it.  But for those of you who can:

for all your little heart desires.

You can own up now, how many of you tried to sing that in your heads?

  1. I must admit that I did sing it in my head. I could not help myself. :-)

    1. Superb. My latest attempt at long distance mind manipulation appears to be going well. Anyone else out there been suckered?

  2. I not only sang it in my head, I actually hummed it. I'm more susceptible than I thought!
