MOUCHE 2009-2014

None of us like to admit when our children are less than perfect
and the same rule of thumb must surely apply to the
four-footed members of our families too.

Princess Mouche of Mouline has always had a dark, unpredictable side to her nature
which I have generally chosen to ignore, or indeed comment upon,
because the good has for the most part outweighed the bad.

However without the intervention of my beautiful Geordie when
things get heavy matters have sadly moved on apace
and she has twice tried to attack me in my sleep
with varying degrees of success.

After a third, and very frightening, attempt last week
and after much soul searching and discussion with the vet,
he said I only one option as he suspected a brain tumour.

Late this afternoon she was gently reunited with her beloved master
who's death she has never been able to come to terms with
despite the passage of time.

May I be forgiven  - wait for me at the bridge Princess.

  1. What a heartbreaking decision...sounds like the poor girl just was not herself though, and your own safety is a big consideration too.

Sending hugs and good thoughts your way...

  4. Do not feel guilty Julia, you had no other choice, she clearly wasn't well. A very brave decision I think, thoughts are with you.

  5. You are certainly having a miserable time of things at the moment. So sorry for you and wishes for happier times to come.

  6. I send my hug to comfort you as well.
In the dog days of summer where I live, there is a special day of gathering in memory our beloved pets. We throw rose petals in the waters of rivers, and this year, I will add the name of Princess Mouche of Mouline and we will throw rose petals in the Cedar River in her memory.

  7. If she had a brain tumour then she would have been suffering too. So sorry for your loss. (just back from holiday)

  8. How sad and how brave of you. I dread the (3) day(s) when I will have to make the same decision. But the suffering of the four-legged family members must be the first consideration. Our family had a spaniel with a brain tumor. She went blind, could go up steps, but not down, up on the bed, but not down, couldn't find the door to go out. She was soo sad and lost. Our Mollie was not there anymore. The loss, as you know, is indescribable.

  10. While I'm sorry that Mouche has gone to join her master and I know the difficulties I would have making such a decision, I am relieved that you have not been seriously hurt. The loveliest part of our 4-footed children is that they always forgive us (although I have one who takes her sweet time about it) and seem to understand. I'll drink a toast to Mouche, bless her soul, wherever she is, and another one to you. MI Pat
